Frances started her career at Phillips Auctioneers in Bond Street, back in 1987. After graduating with a degree in History of Art and History of Architecture, she joined the company initially as a secretary and quickly moving to the role of PA to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Weston. Transferring to the Phillips Oxford salerooms as their Advertising and Marketing Assistant in 1990, an opportunity arose shortly afterwards to train as their jewellery and silver specialist.
After the merger of Bonhams Auctioneers and Phillips Son & Neale Auctioneers in November 2001, Frances gained her professional gemmology qualifications, achieving the Diamond Grading Diploma (DGA) and becoming a Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA). As Head of the Jewellery Department at Bonhams Oxford, Frances oversaw the development of an expanding and highly successful jewellery team, with the number of specialist jewellery auctions increasing from four to eleven sales per year by 2014. Working closely with the Bonhams London jewellery departments, Frances was also responsible for sourcing high value jewellery for sale in Bonhams' London, Hong Kong and American salerooms.
Frances is a keen member of the Society of Jewellery Historians, and has contributed articles to assorted professional magazines and publications, plus giving talks and speaking at charitable events to further encourage others in her passion for and love of jewellery.
Frances is married with two sons and a very energetic spaniel and lives in Oxfordshire.
